Introduction
When it comes to design projects, the more information about a job site a designer has, the better the decisions will be made to provide an accurate understanding of the situation.
One of the most efficient things to do is to georeference a drawing in order to assign real-world coordinates to it. This may allow a designer to notice potential issues before they arise and avoid costly rework.
Georeferencing is a prerequisite for exploring any other features of Plex-Earth. This process ensures that the drawing is accurately overlaid with existing spatial data without skewing its geometry.
Don't know the coordinate system for your project? Try to create a custom georeference, by using the Quick Site View tool.
NOTE: If a drawing is already georeferenced through the GEO command of AutoCAD,
there will be no need to do so via Plex-Earth as it automatically recognizes
the applied coordinate system. This can be checked by clicking on the
Assign Georeference button. The built-in coordinates will be displayed as shown.
If you need to change the current coordinate system, click on Change,
to apply a georeferencing system with Plex-Earth.
Select Coordinate System
Go to the Plex-Earth Ribbon and on the Project panel, click on "Assign Georeference". Alternatively, type PXV_GEO in the command line.
Plex-Earth will show the following menu, where you can choose the Country, the Coordinate System, and the respective Units. You also have the option to type the country, region, coordinate system, or EPSG code for your convenience.
Then, click on the “Accept” button at the bottom.
NOTE: Plex-Earth supports over 3,000 coordinate systems worldwide.
In a rare case where a system is not included in the list, please send us
an email at support@plexscape.com, with its definition or EPSG code and
we will add it for you.
Afterward, the selected coordinate system will be displayed as shown below.
If you want to set the current coordinate system as the default, click on the "Set as Default" button.
After finishing the georeferencing process, you are now ready to explore all the new features Plex-Earth offers.
We hope that you have found this tutorial on choosing a coordinate system through Plex-Earth, helpful. Feel free to contact us at support@plexscape.com for any questions you may still have.
