In the process of designing a project, many issues may arise that call for elevation, slope or direction analysis in order to be surpassed. Plex.Earth 4 provides this functionality, allowing users to perform these types of analysis with a simple click of a button.
How are you going to accomplish this?
First, you click on the third drop-down menu of the “Terrain” panel and select the “Analysis” command.
Then you select the terrain on which you want to conduct the analysis.
Tip: It is not mandatory to select a terrain mesh specifically in order to proceed with the analysis. Alternatively, it can be based on either contours or elevation points.
Following this, you choose the Analysis Category that you are interested in: Elevation, Slope or Direction.
The steps you need to follow are similar for all three categories, so they will be mentioned indicatively for the “Elevation” option.
1. Choose “Elevation” from the options displayed in the dialogue box and then define the way that the ranges are going to be specified, either “Auto” or “Custom”. |

2. In this tutorial, we select the “Custom” version and next we determine the number of ranges that will be taken into account for the analysis. Since Plex.Earth 4 provides both the minimum and the maximum altitude values, we define 5 categories with an almost equal range of altitudes. |
3. Following this, the range color method that will be applied needs to be selected between “Gradient” and “Manual”. |

4. Since we picked the "Gradient" way, we define only the first and the last color code of our preference. |
5. Finally, we select the display type of the analysis results among 2D-solid, 3D-faces and mesh type, according to what best suits our needs. |
