Plex-Earth Lite Ribbon Issues

Normally, after installing Plex-Earth, its ribbon should appear on your CAD as an extra ribbon tab.

In some cases, though, you may encounter the following situations:

Case 1: The Ribbon appears wrong: duplicate or wrong buttons appear

Case 2: Ribbon appears, but the buttons don't work (Unknown Command)

Case 3: The Ribbon appears, but it is empty or blank

Case 4: Two ribbons appear for different Plex-Earth versions

Case 5: No ribbon appears, but Plex-Earth is installed

A ribbon issue is usually easy to fix, but it could indicate another issue, so we will check each situation separately.

Case 1: The Ribbon appears wrong: duplicate or wrong buttons appear

In this case, try the following, with the order stated.

  1. Use the "PXV_RIBBON_FIX" command in CAD's command line
  2. Switch your CAD workspace from "Drafting & Annotation" to "3D Basics" and back (or vice versa)
  3. Use the CUILOAD command and unload Plex-Earth, then close and re-open AutoCAD
  4. Type the CUILOAD command, scroll down the list, and select PXEARTH26.
    After you have done that, select NETLOAD and navigate to:
    C:\ProgramFiles\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\PlexEarth.2026.1x.bundle
    Then move to Contents
         If you are using CAD 2020 to 2024, go to Windows
         If you are using CAD 2025, go to Windows.NET8
    and select the file PlexEarth.dll, then Load.
    If you are using BricsCAD, go to C:\Program Files\Plex-Earth for BricsCAD\Windows and select the file PlexEarth.dll, then Load.
    This should help load Plex-Earth in your ribbon.
  5. Close CAD and then type %appdata%\Autodesk in your File Explorer. 
    Then select the CAD application you are currently using and open 
    until the enu file, like the following example:
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\R25.0\enu

Tip: You can find this address directly, using the CUI command and locating the Plex-Earth customization file, clicking on it, and copying its filename.

After locating this, find all the relevant Plex-Earth .cuix files and delete them.

The .cuix location is different for its Autodesk vertical (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc) and for its year version (2026, 2025, 2024, etc), so if you are using more than one and encounter ribbon issues, you need to delete the folders in each one of them.

Case 2: Ribbon appears, but the buttons don't work (Unknown Command)

This issue could indicate a wrong installation or a connectivity issue.

Try the following steps in the order stated:

  1. All the steps of Case 1 above, if applicable. If some steps are not applicable, skip to the next steps.
  2. Go to the Control Panel and uninstall any version of Plex-Earth you have installed.
    Then install the proper version of Plex-Earth 2026 below.

  3. If the issue persists, it probably indicates a connectivity issue. Follow the instructions here: Connectivity Issues

Case 3: The Ribbon appears, but it is empty or blank

Handle this as in Case 2 above.

Case 4: Two ribbons appear for different Plex-Earth Lite versions

Plex-Earth Lite cannot be concurrently installed with the following previous CAD versions: 5, 5D, 2023, and 2025, so if it appears on the ribbon concurrently with them, it is probably an installation issue.

However, it can be concurrently installed with version 4, so if, for some reason, you have them both installed, it is normal to have two separate ribbons.

To resolve this, do the following:

  1. First, visit the Control Panel and check that only version 2026 is installed. If older versions are still there, uninstall them.
  2. All the Steps of Case 1, if applicable
  3. Go to the Control Panel and uninstall any version of Plex-Earth you have installed.
    Then install the proper version of Plex-Earth 2026 below.

    If the issue persists, send us your Plex-Earth folders as described here.

Case 5: No ribbon appears, but Plex-Earth Lite is installed

This situation could indicate a simple ribbon issue, that you have installed an incompatible Plex-Earth version for your CAD, or a connectivity issue.

Try the following with this order.

1) First, make sure which version of Plex-Earth you have installed from the Control Panel.

Plex-Earth 2026 is compatible with the following CAD versions:

  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D®, AutoCAD Map 3D, AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Plant 3D: 2026 , 2025 , 2024 , 2023 , 2022 , 2021 , 2020

  • BricsCAD (Pro, Mechanical, BIM, Ultimate): V25 , V24 , V23 , V22 , V21

If you have an older CAD, BricsCAD, or AutoCAD Lite, the ribbon will not appear due to incompatibility.

2) Try everything in Case 1, if applicable
