Introduction
Plex-Earth offers the ability to import 3 types of images: Single Images, Imagery Mosaics, and Timeline Images.
1. Single Images
A Single Image is a raster image whose resolution is automatically calculated by the software to instantly cover the whole extent of a specified area with a single tile. Depending on the size of the specified area and location, the imported imagery can have very good resolution and clarity. Given that these images are raster, they can be saved locally on your computer. You can see more information about Single Images here.
2. Imagery Mosaics
An Imagery Mosaic, or simply a mosaic, is a grid of high-resolution images or a high-quality image consisting of many tiles. It is an assembly of aerial photographs, each one of which has been individually georeferenced to produce a larger-scale map of the highest possible accuracy. You can see more information about Imagery Mosaics here. Take note that you can also edit your Mosaic imagery, as well as save them locally on your computer as rasters.
3. Timeline Images
Timeline images are historical and very recent images from our Premium Providers, Airbus, and Maxar. They are one-tile images whose resolution is automatically calculated by the software to cover the whole extent of a specified area. You can see more information about Timeline Images here.
Notes
The Imagery Tools are different from the Site Areas Tools. If you want to see how you can work with Site Areas, click here.
There is another image type, which is called Quick Site View. Quick Site View is a tool available in Plex-Earth that lets you have a brief view of your Area of Interest to help you decide how to proceed with your next steps.
