Applies to: Plex-Earth 2025 for BricsCAD or older Audience: BricsCAD users
ℹ️ This issue was most commonly encountered in older Plex-Earth versions and older BricsCAD builds. If you are using the latest Plex-Earth build and the latest BricsCAD version, you are unlikely to encounter this error. If you are on an older build and experiencing this issue, the steps below will resolve it.
Overview
When using Plex-Earth commands in BricsCAD, you may encounter a situation where selecting an option from the command line produces the following error:
"Unable to recognize entry. Please try again."
This prevents you from proceeding with Plex-Earth commands that require command-line input, such as selecting an area, confirming an option, or entering a value.
Solution
This issue is caused by the Plex-Earth Imagery Editor or Terrain Editor palette being in a floating (undocked) state. Anchoring the palette to the left or right of your BricsCAD workspace resolves the conflict.
- Locate the Imagery Editor or Terrain Editor palette in your BricsCAD workspace
- Right-click on the palette header
- Select Anchor Left or Anchor Right
- Once the palette is anchored, restart the Plex-Earth command you were trying to use from the beginning
- You should now be able to select options from the command line without the error
💡 To prevent this issue from recurring, keep the Imagery Editor and Terrain Editor palettes anchored at all times when working with Plex-Earth commands in BricsCAD.
FAQs
Why does anchoring the palette fix the command line issue?
When the Imagery Editor or Terrain Editor palette is floating freely in BricsCAD, it can interfere with how BricsCAD handles keyboard input and command line interactions. Anchoring the palette to the workspace removes this conflict and allows command line input to be processed correctly.
I anchored the palette but the error is still appearing. What should I do?
Make sure you restart the Plex-Earth command completely after anchoring the palette — do not try to continue from where you left off. Press Escape to cancel any active command, anchor the palette, and then start the command again from the beginning.
Does this issue occur in AutoCAD as well?
No. This is specific to BricsCAD and is related to how BricsCAD handles palette focus and command line input. AutoCAD-based platforms do not exhibit this behavior.
Will I lose any work if I have to restart the command?
No. Restarting the Plex-Earth command simply means initiating it again from the ribbon or command line. No data or drawing content is lost.
