The following tutorial will show information related to the workstations such as the active workstations, the activation keys, how to deactivate a workstation, and how to generate activation keys in order to forward them to colleagues.
Workstation Details
The "Workstations" tab of the subscription details page represents all workstations that have been activated at the moment. It displays the following properties for each workstation:
- Code: The workstation number of the active computers.
- Name: The name of the workstation.
- First Activation: The date that the workstation was first activated.
- Status: The current status of the workstation. It can have the following values:
- Working: The workstation is using Plex-Earth and is active
- Idle: The workstation is using Plex-Earth but is not active
- Not responding: The workstation is using Plex-Earth but it is not known if it is active or not
- Empty: The workstation is not using Plex-Earth
Releasing Workstations
To deactivate or release a workstation, hover the mouse pointer over the selected workstation and click on the "Deactivate" button:
Click on the "Yes, continue" button to confirm the deactivation and the workstation will be removed from the list and the seat will be free:
The subscription may have been configured to allow a certain amount of deactivations that can be performed totally in the subscription. Once the allowed number of deactivations has been achieved, the following message will show up, upon clicking the "Deactivate" button:
Contact support@plexscape.com in order to configure the subject.
The "Activation keys" tab on the subscription details page displays a list of generated codes that can be used to activate Plex-Earth in a workstation.
It displays the following properties for each key:
- Code: The workstation number of the active computers.
- Expires: The expiration date of the key. An empty value indicates that the key does not expire.
- Times Used: Indicates how many times a key was used to activate a workstation from the total number of allowed activations. A single-digit value indicates that the key can be used infinite times.
- Status: Indicates whether the key is currently enabled and allows you to toggle its status accordingly.
NOTE: Disabling an activation key is useful in cases where the key has been compromised or leaked publicly. |
The list displays all enabled activation keys by default. The disabled ones can be viewed by checking the "Show disabled" box at the top left part of the list.
Generating activation keys
A new activation key can be generated, by using the dropdown at the top of the list. We have curated a list of ready-made usage scenarios that you can use:
- Single-use for 24 hours
- Infinite use for 1 week
- Infinite use until the expiration date of the subscription
- A certain amount of uses according to the maximum number of activations of the subscription
- Infinite use
If the above scenarios do not fit in the specific case, by creating a new one select the "Custom" option, and fill in the necessary details:
Sharing Activation Keys
After creating an activation key for the subscription, can be shared with the workstation users through the list. Hover over an activation key and select the "Share" button:
The dialog that will be displayed allows to:
- Copy the activation key in the clipboard
- Send the activation key to one or more email addresses
By selecting to send the activation code via email, there is the option to get a copy of the message that will be sent, to the manager's email address.
