Overview
In rare cases, AutoCAD-based platforms may freeze or crash after installing Plex-Earth. This article walks you through confirming whether the issue is related to Plex-Earth and how to resolve it.
Affected platforms may include:
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- AutoCAD Map 3D
- AutoCAD Plant 3D
- AutoCAD Electrical
- BricsCAD
💡 If you are experiencing performance-related issues — such as lagging, unusually slow startup, delayed command execution, or slow drawing loading — rather than a full crash or freeze, contact us directly at support@plexscape.com with a description of the issue.
Step 0: Confirm the Issue is Related to Plex-Earth
Before troubleshooting, verify that Plex-Earth is actually causing the crash or freeze:
- Uninstall Plex-Earth from your system
- Restart your CAD platform
If the issue persists after uninstalling Plex-Earth: The problem is not related to Plex-Earth. Contact your CAD vendor's support for assistance.
If the issue is resolved after uninstalling: Continue with the steps below.
Step 1: Install the Latest Compatible Plex-Earth Build
An outdated or incompatible Plex-Earth build is the most common cause of crashes and freezes after installation.
- Download and install the latest Plex-Earth build compatible with your CAD version from: 👉 https://plexearth.com/download (for older Plex-Earth versions, go to Plex-Earth Download Links and Compatibility)
- Start your CAD platform
- Check whether the issue still occurs
If the issue is resolved: No further action is required.
If the issue persists: Proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Install the Latest Updates for Your CAD Platform
An outdated CAD installation can also cause compatibility issues with Plex-Earth. Make sure your CAD platform is fully up to date.
For Autodesk products: Visit the Autodesk Updates page: https://manage.autodesk.com/products/updates
Alternatively, use the Autodesk Access application to install all available updates.
For BricsCAD: Download the latest updates from: https://www.bricsys.com/bricscad-download
Install all available updates, including hotfixes and patches.
After updating:
- Restart your CAD platform
- Check whether the issue persists
If the issue is resolved: No further action is required.
If the issue continues: Proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Contact Plex-Earth support
If the issue remains unresolved after completing Steps 1 and 2, further investigation is required. Please get in touch with our support team with the following information:
- Your Plex-Earth log files — see How to Submit Your Plex-Earth Files for Troubleshooting
- Whether CAD is freezing or crashing, and when it occurs (e.g., at startup, when opening a drawing, when using a specific command)
- Your exact CAD version — run the
ABOUTcommand in CAD and provide a screenshot of the full version details - Whether any additional CAD add-ons are installed alongside Plex-Earth

FAQs
How do I know if the crash is caused by Plex-Earth or by something else?
The quickest way to confirm is to uninstall Plex-Earth and restart CAD. If the crash or freeze stops, Plex-Earth is the cause. If CAD still crashes after uninstalling Plex-Earth, the issue is unrelated and you should contact your CAD vendor's support team.
I installed the latest Plex-Earth build but CAD is still crashing. What should I do?
Proceed to Step 2 and make sure your CAD platform is fully up to date. Outdated CAD installations are a common cause of compatibility issues. If updating CAD does not resolve the issue, contact our support team with your log files and CAD version details.
Could other CAD add-ons be causing the conflict?
Yes. Third-party CAD add-ons can sometimes interfere with Plex-Earth and cause instability. When contacting our support team, let us know which other add-ons are installed. In some cases, temporarily disabling other add-ons can help isolate the cause.
My CAD freezes only when I use a specific Plex-Earth command. Is this a known issue?
This may indicate a compatibility issue with a specific feature or your CAD version. Please contact our support team with a description of which command triggers the freeze, your CAD version, and your Plex-Earth log files so we can investigate.
Does this issue affect BricsCAD as well?
Yes. BricsCAD can also experience freezes or crashes after installing Plex-Earth in rare cases. The same troubleshooting steps apply — confirm the issue is Plex-Earth related, install the latest compatible build, and update BricsCAD to the latest version. If the issue persists, contact our support team.
How do I find my exact CAD version to include in my support request?
Type ABOUT in the CAD command line and press Enter. A window
will appear showing the full version details. Take a screenshot of this
window and include it in your support request.
